Who We Serve

WHAT We DO

Welcome to Partners (formally Partners for Women and Justice), a non-profit public interest law firm committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence and sexual assault victims. We have been dedicated to providing legal representation, advice, and counseling sessions to those in need. Our mission extends beyond gender boundaries, as we proudly serve women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
At Partners, we firmly believe that everyone deserves equal access to justice, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, or background. We understand that domestic violence and sexual assault can affect anyone, and it is crucial for victims to recognize the warning signs and know when to seek help. We strive to empower individuals by not only advocating for procedural and legislative changes to benefit victims but also by equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate these challenging situations.
My Partners attorney negotiated an agreement that provided me with protection from Josh, provided Josh limited visitation with Grace, and included child support that enabled us to have a safe home away from him. The day the agreement was finalized, I cried tears of joy. It was a relief to know that we would finally be safe.
Our mission is to provide equal access to justice for these individuals by offering quality legal assistance in domestic violence, sexual violence and family law matters. With over two decades of experience, we have helped over 4,000 victims find safety and stability through our legal representation, counseling sessions, and advocacy efforts. Our team of dedicated attorneys and client advocates work tirelessly to navigate the legal system, secure protective orders, and address various legal needs such as child and spousal support, visitation, and custody matters.
Partners’ advocacy strives to advance legal protections and justice for survivors throughout the Garden State. We focus on the issues affecting marginalized survivors and work to eliminate racism and misogyny in the civil and criminal systems.
As a volunteer attorney for Partners, you will represent domestic violence victims seeking final restraining orders, safe visitation and custody arrangements, and child support. You may also have the opportunity to provide advice and counsel to empower self-represented victims.
Partners is excited to recognize one of our extraordinary pro bono attorneys – Kathleen Cavanaugh, a Partner at Parker Ibrahim & Berg. Kathleen first learned about Partners in 2013 from her neighbor and Partners Trustee…
The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey awarded Partners a grant to support our efforts to expand access to legal services for victims by creating a user-friendly website for victims to access our services and to support the future launch of the volunteer resource portal.
